A conversation with Mr. Abdulhadi Achakzai, Founder and the Chief Executive of Afghanistan’s largest UN-accredited climate change and environmental specialized NGO, the Environmental Protection Trainings and Development Organization (EPTDO), Moderated by Gloria Karekezi, tUrn alum, and director of tUrn, Kristin Kusanovich. A look at Afghanistan’s landscape of climate action and the climatic action of the landscape. Topics will include climate science, urgency, partnerships, and applying concepts of zero waste to the perilous heat, pollution, food, & water crises in Kabul and the region.

Enter the dance studio in ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½'s Music and Dance Facility on Franklin and Lafayette Streets in ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ (parking is availbable behind Togos across Lafayette Street from the dance studio) and enjoy screenings of various climate dances from around the world, then spectate or jump in to a series of movement exercises that engage some contemporary climate texts and create a dance on the spot.

This eco-dance tUrn Climate Action headliner features a screening of Zone, an original dance work choreographed by Kristin Kusanovich featuring ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ dance students, followed by a discussion, and an improvisation jam with any interested audience members and students in Advanced Modern Dance, exploring excerpts from the climate fiction novel My Days of Dark Green Euphoria by A E Copenhaver, a  work that explores "love, lies, and eco-anxiety - an irresistible satire about finding balance in a chaotic world."

Join Dana Nuccitelli, Research Manager for Citizens' Climate Lobby and journalist for Yale Climate Connections, for an in-depth overview of the challenging landscape that permitting reform negotiations must navigate, including ensuring that community engagement in the permitting process is strengthened, that environmental reviews are streamlined but not undermined, and that climate pollution is ultimately curbed.
