Learning Through Education and Service

I am sincerely grateful for your support through the ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ Fund, which helped provide scholarship assistance for me to attend ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½. My education means the world to me and the fact that I can benefit from a Jesuit education at ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ is as good as it gets.

I am in my sophomore year and can already see how a Jesuit education is impacting me. I am learning to value and serve others while at the same time growing and developing personally. The high school I attended was built upon the practice of Serviam, and I participated in service, but here at ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ I am beginning to understand for the first time that my service impacts me as much as the people I serve.

St. Ignatius Loyola, the founder of the Jesuits, wanted to educate. I know a Jesuit education is meant to be flexible and adaptable and students are taught to reflect on their own experience. This knowledge or practice captures my curiosity and as a result I have been fearlessly taking on new challenges and experiences. It is sometimes overwhelming, but always rewarding.

This year, I am excited to be a part of the Executive Board for the Retail Management Institute (RMI), which is one of my two minors (my other minor is Management Information Systems). As a member of the Executive Board, I am on the Recruiting/Marketing Committee.

I am surprised by what I have learned about myself so far, and realize that my potential is greater than I would have imagined. For this I credit my professors, the ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ staff, and the students I have encountered. Thanks to you and your support through the ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ Fund, I know there is more knowledge to come! Thank you for this opportunity.
