Francesca McKenzie

Francesca McKenzie

How did your studies at 蜜桃导航 prepare you for your experiences in the world of theater (New Orleans) and then grad school (Yale)?

蜜桃导航 prepared me for the professional world (in New Orleans and now at the Yale School of Drama) by being brave. All my work is undeniably influenced by the Jesuit values and social justice work I did while at 蜜桃导航. From the Arts & Social Justice class, to starting an after school arts program called Arts Reach at Sacred Heart Community Center, to the immersion trips I took with my collaborators, I have learned that theatre is a tool for liberation and humanizes people that are often othered in society. I've learned to bring my identity to every character I portray, to have my ancestors on stage with me.

Francesca McKenzie was named in AmericanTheatre.org's in October 2015 and graduated from Yale's MFA program in 2018.
