TEACHER RESIDENCY PATHWAY:
In collaboration with the ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ County Office of Education (SCCOE), ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ teacher candidates pursuing a single subject mathematics or science credential in the 1-year pathway (summer start) or Winter start may be eligible for the . During their student teaching year, ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ Master of Arts in Teaching with Teaching Credential (MATTC) candidates in the Teacher Residency Program receive a $25,000 stipend and additional professional support. Candidates in the Teacher Residency Program agree to teach in California public schools with a commitment to prioritize schools in ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ County for a minimum of four years upon obtaining their preliminary teaching credential.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
- Apply first to MATTC and indicate interest in the Teacher Residency Program under the Scholarships section of the application.
- Once accepted to MATTC:
- Complete brief SCCOE residency application
- Meet with MATTC Director
FAQs
Can I apply directly to the SCCOE Teacher Residency Program?
No. As a joint collaboration with the SCCOE, interested applicants must first apply to ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½’s MATTC program. Once admitted to MATTC, candidates can then complete the brief application with SCCOE.
Are international students eligible for the residency program?
In order for international students to be eligible for the Teacher Residency Program, they must be authorized to work in the United States in order to fulfill the four year teaching service obligation.
How will I receive my stipend?
The SCCOE will disperse stipends directly to Teacher Residency Program candidates during their student teaching year.
