Brendan W. Donckers, Class of 2002
Attorney and Member of the Bar of the US Supreme Court
Studying English at ÃÛÌÒµ¼º½ isn't just about learning how to write well. It's understanding how to communicate effectively and how to make your opinion relevant. I was challenged by what is a rigorous curriculum, but also given the freedom to focus on what I was passionate about. The skills I developed have helped me stand out in the competitive fields of law and politics: I have worked for the U.N., a Member of Congress, the state legislature, and the state supreme court. I now litigate in the public interest and serve on the board of directors of several nonprofits. An English major is whatever you want it to be.
